About Us

Craigard Gallery is a small family run business, established in 2014 in the heart of Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town. Named after the building “Craigard” in which it resides, it is one of the region’s leading contemporary private art galleries. Managed by printmaker Sarah Stewart, the gallery seeks to promote the works of emerging and established professional artists.

Craigard hosts a diverse but carefully curated programme of exhibitions from some of the finest contemporary artists and craftspeople. Recent exhibitors include Ruth Brownlee, Hazel Campbell, Clare Dawdry, Pamela Grace and Gregor Henderson. Alongside our exhibition programme the gallery hosts a variety of events and workshops throughout the year.

The gallery also stocks a small selection of art books, both new and second hand; art materials; beautifully illustrated children’s books and gifts. As we renovate the back space in preparation to open our new coffee roastery, only the front room is presently open to the public.
