I have lived and worked in Galloway most of my life. I attended Jordanhill Teacher training college in the sixties where art was my specialist subject in final year. I was fortunate enough to attend art classes with Archie Sutter Watt in his studio at Kirkgunzeon for thirty years.

I now run weekend and  three day teaching courses from my studio in Castle Douglas and am a past chair of Spring Fling, Dumfries and Galloway's open studios event.

I have developed my own vigorous style of painting with a loose, bold approach working mainly in gouache and ink, using local Galloway countryside as a stimulus for landscape painting. Still life and flowers are also subjects, and like landscapes are being treated in an increasingly broad manner.
