Collection: Hazel Campbell
An artist for more than 40 years, Hazel’s work is bold and loose using gouache, ink and pastels and occasionally foraying into oil painting.
Landscape features predominantly in her work and she has a fascination with Galloway villages. Decades of driving into Rhonehouse has informed her of the cottages, sheds and trees which she now tends to draw from memory and imagination. Hazel finds inspiration in the drive from Castle Douglas to Wigtown to deliver work to the gallery: sea, hills, fields and homesteads.
Besides her landscape paintings, Hazel does find herself at times sidetracked by shelves of bottles, baskets and boxes which also feature in her work, both as still lifes and abstract compositions.
